Ujung Kulon National Park

Ujung Kulon is one of national parks in Indonesia which is located in west of Banten Province. This national park, which acknowledge as Rhinoceros sondaicus habitat, is a lowland tropical forest which is surrounded by sea. It which makes that Ujung Kulon National Park looks amazing. So that, as an amazing place to explored, Ujung Kulon also offers us three kinds of sports which can we do there, there are water sport, forest tracking, and mountain hiking.
The water sports that we can do there, are surfing, diving, and canoeing. Surfing area in Ujung Kulon is in Panaitan Island, an island which faces Indian Ocean in the south. Panaitan was well known as one of the best Indonesia surfing areas, it proved that, in 1994, Panaitan Island was used as a location for filming surfing whose title second though. In Panaitan Island also we can do diving, scuba diving. Panaitan offers us amazing underwater scenery, but, because of big underwater currents, it is not recommended to novice divers. Another water sport which we can do in Ujung Kulon National Park is canoeing in Cigenter River, a river which is covered by branches that jutted into the river and some times on the branches there are hanging pythons.
Ujung Kulon National Park as a wide lowland tropical forest where many floras and faunas live is a good place for tracking. We will start tracking from Ujung Jaya, the latest village, and track through in to the forest for about 40 kilometers. There will be found many floras and faunas. According to the data of the national park official, there are 700 kinds of flora which 57 of them are endemic in java; there are also 35 kinds of mammals, 5 kinds of primate, 240 kinds of bird, 59 kinds of reptile, 22 kinds of amphibian, and 72 kinds of insect. So, it will be an amazing “wild” tracking.
Although Ujung Kulon is a lowland tropical forest, there are also some mountains to hike, whose have medium high, which easy to hike but give an amazing experience. Raksa Mountain, a mountain there, is very historical because there are some statues of Ganesha, which is known as one of the old statues in Indonesia. Another mountain there, Honje Mountain, is a habitat of Owa Jawa (Hylobates moloch) which one of java endemic primate. Besides that, those mountains will offer us good view of the lowland when we arrived in the top of it.
In short, Ujung Kulon is an amazing java’s lowland tropical forest which will give us unforgettable experience. It is because Ujung Kulon offers us at least three kinds of sport and a good view of jungle, its offers many kinds of floras and faunas. So that, I am sure that Ujung Kulon have to be written as one of our vacation destinations.
